The Land of Enchantment

Sometimes I get this feeling, like an elephant is standing on my chest. It builds up over time, until it feels like it will crush me. I feel like I need to go away, to explore, and see what is on the other side of the horizon. I’ve been feeling that way a lot these days, and I take opportunities as they come. New Mexico is one of my favorite places to go. It’s full of beautiful landscapes, interesting history, and diverse and fascinating cultures. Along the way, I hit some spots on Route 66, and I didn’t worry about getting sidetracked, that was the whole point. I went places where my signal faded out, where I didn’t feel connected to anything other than the earth beneath my feet and the skies above my head.

I feel good, getting lost.

For those interested, I shot these on a Nikon F3, Olympus Zoom, Yashica 124, and Polaroid SX-70. Kodak Tri-X, Portra 120 was the film, and of course Polaroid.
